The Dow Jones Industrial Average is DOWN 19.75 points at 14,015.90 in afternoon trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is DOWN 7.92 points at 1,523.02.
The NASDAQ Composite index is DOWN 22.21 points at 3,191.38.
The Australian dollar is trading at 102.57 US cents, DOWN almost a US cent from 103.65 at Wednesday's close.
The local currency is worth 96.29 Japanese yen, 77.23 euro cents, 67.33 British pence and 1.2289 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is DOWN $US1.97 at $US94.69 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open LOWER, with the SPI futures index DOWN 12 points at 5061.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Wednesay GAINED 16.8 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 5,098.7 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index ADDED 14.0 points, or 0.27 per cent, to 5,115 points.
The spot price of gold is $US1,568.1, DOWN from Wednesday's close of $US1,607.37.
