Europe's main stock markets lost ground at the open on Tuesday, with London's FTSE 100 index of top companies down 0.20 per cent at 6,305.38 points.
Elsewhere, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index dropped 0.19 per cent to 7,614.10 points and in Paris the CAC 40 shed 0.16 per cent to 3,661.24.
