The Dow Jones Industrial Average is DOWN 60.74 points at 13,925.80 in afternoon trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is DOWN 5.72 points at 1,506.40.
The NASDAQ Composite index is DOWN 18.79 points at 3,149.69.
The Australian dollar is trading at 102.82 US cents, DOWN from 103.30 at Thursday's close.
The local currency is worth 96.10 Japanese yen, 76.75 euro cents, 65.45 British pence and 1.2375 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is DOWN 80 US cents at $US95.82 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open LOWER, with the SPI futures index DOWN 11 points at 4883.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Thursday GAINED 14.7 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 4,935.7 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index ROSE 15.3 points, or 0.31 per cent, at 4,955.8 points.
The spot price of gold is $US1,671.40, DOWN from Thursday's close of $US1,681.05.
