The stock market in New York has ended the day fairly FLAT.
Preliminary figures put the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 7.14 points to 13,986.44 and Standard & Poor's 500 index up 0.82 points to 1,512.11.
The NASDAQ Composite index FELL 3.10 points to 3,168.48.
The Australian dollar is trading at 103.21 US cents, DOWN from 103.56 at Wednesday's close.
The local currency is worth 93.58 Japanese yen, 76.34 euro cents, 65.92 British pence and 1.2306 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil has closed DOWN two US cents at $US96.62 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open HIGHER, with the SPI futures index UP seven points at 4,921.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Wednesday GAINED 38.3 points, or 0.78 per cent, to 4,921 points, and the broader All Ordinaries index was up 37.9 points, or 0.77 per cent, at 4,940.5 points.
The spot price of gold is $US1,677.38, UP from Wednesday's close of $US1,673.95.
