The Australian dollar fell to its lowest level in almost three months during a weak night on global stock markets.
At 0630 AEDT on Thursday, the currency was trading at 103.14 US cents, down from 103.56 cents on Wednesday afternoon.
The Australian dollar moved as low as 102.98 US cents overnight on Wednesday amid weak performances on European and US stock markets.
Germany's DAX 30 closed 1.09 per cent lower while Paris' CAC 40 finished down 1.4 per cent.
In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ were all trading lower at 0630 AEDT.
