Capital city house prices rose 1.6 per cent in the December quarter, official figures show.
This compares with a downwardly revised 0.14 per cent fall in the September quarter.
In the year to December, the house price index rose 2.1 per cent, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.
Perth led the December quarter increases, jumping 2.9 per cent, followed by Darwin (2.6 per cent) and Sydney (2.3 per cent).
But Darwin recorded the biggest increase for the year, followed by Perth and Sydney.
