The Dow Jones Industrial Average is DOWN 101.23 points at 13,908.60 in afternoon trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is DOWN 13.83 points at 1,499.34.
The NASDAQ Composite index is DOWN 36.98 points at 3,142.12.
The Australian dollar is trading at 104.35 US cents, VIRTUALLY UNCHANGED from 104.37 at Monday's close.
The local currency is worth 96.36 Japanese yen, 77.19 euro cents, 66.18 British pence and 1.23.63 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is DOWN $US1.58 at $US96.19 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open LOWER, with the SPI futures index DOWN 30 points at 4839.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Monday SHED 13.6 points, or 0.28 per cent weaker at 4,907.5, while the broader All Ordinaries index LOST 12.8 points, or 0.26 per cent, at 4,929.1.
The spot price of gold is $US1,673.85, UP from Monday's close of $US1,672.65.
