Hong Kong shares have ended flat as dealers took profits a day after the index rose to a 21-month high on the back of growing confidence in the Chinese economy.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index edged down 16.71 points on Tuesday to 23,655.17 on turnover of HK$75.66 billion ($A9.42 billion).
Chinese shares closed up 0.53 percent. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 12.47 points to 2,358.98 on turnover of 124.9 billion yuan ($A19.41 billion).
