The stock market in New York has ended the day MIXED.
Preliminary figures put the Dow Jones Industrial Average UP 13.79 points at 13,882.19, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is DOWN 2.84 points at 1,500.12.
The NASDAQ Composite index is UP 4.36 points at 3,154.07.
The Australian dollar is trading at 104.12 US cents, DOWN from 104.49 at Friday's close, the last day of trading because of the Australia Day public holiday.
The local currency is worth 94.50 Japanese yen, 77.39 euro cents, 66.35 British pence and 1.2499 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is UP 56 US cents at $US96.44 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open FLAT, with the SPI futures index down three points at 4830.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Friday GAINED 25.0 points, or 0.52 per cent, to 4,835.2, while the broader All Ordinaries index ROSE 25.1 points, or 0.52 per cent, to 4,858.9.
The spot price of gold is $US1,655.90, DOWN from Friday's close of $US1,669.28.
