Hong Kong shares have closed 0.15 per cent lower.
The fall on Thursday was in line with losses in Shanghai, despite data showing manufacturing activity in China at a two-year high in January.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index eased 36.20 points to 23,598.90 on turnover of HK$78.87 billion ($A9.70 billion).
Chinese shares closed down 0.79 per cent. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 18.31 points to 2,302.60 on turnover of 135.6 billion yuan ($A20.76 billion).
