Qantas has offered its check-in and customer service staff voluntary redundancies after losing a multimillion contract with Air New Zealand.
Qantas says Air New Zealand advised back in November it would not renew the contract for ground handling services when the current arrangement expired in March.
In response to the loss, Qantas has called for voluntary redundancies among its check-in and customer service staff.
"We don't expect there will be any compulsory redundancies," the Qantas spokesman said on Thursday.
The number of redundancies was expected to be low but the airline had no exact figures yet.
