The stock market in New York has closed MIXED, with final figures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average UP 53.68 points at 13,649.70 and the Standard & Poor's 500 index is UP 5.04 points at 1,485.98.
The NASDAQ Composite index is DOWN 1.30 points at 3,134.71.
The Australian dollar is trading at 105.12 US cents, DOWN from 105.23 at Friday's close.
The local currency is worth 94.74 Japanese yen, 78.98 euro cents, 66.36 British pence and 1.2565 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is UP sevne US cents at $US95.56 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open HIGHER, with the SPI futures index UP 17 points at 4757.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Friday GAINED 14.5 points, or 0.31 per cent at 4,771.2, while the broader All Ordinaries index GAINED 15 points, or 0.31 per cent, at 4,794.7.
The spot price of gold is $US1,683.60, DOWN from Friday's close of $US1,691.65.
