The Dow Jones Industrial Average is UP 53.68 points at 13,649.70 in afternoon trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is UP 5.04 points at 1,485.98.
But the NASDAQ Composite index is DOWN 1.30 points at 3,134.71.
The Australian dollar is trading at 105.10 US cents, DOWN from 105.23 at Friday's close.
The local currency is worth 94.69 Japanese yen, 78.97 euro cents, 66.33 British pence and 1.2564 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is UP sevne US cents at $US95.56 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open HIGHER, with the SPI futures index UP 17 points at 4757.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Friday GAINED 14.5 points, or 0.31 per cent at 4,771.2, while the broader All Ordinaries index GAINED 15 points, or 0.31 per cent, at 4,794.7.
The spot price of gold is $US1,683.60, DOWN from Friday's close of $US1,691.65.
