A consortium led by construction giant Lend Lease Group has been awarded a $2 billion contract for the Sunshine Coast University Hospital public private sponsorship.
The Exemplar Health consortium comprises Lend Lease and its infrastructure development business, Capella Capital, and services company Spotless Group.
The consortium will design, construct, maintain and finance a 738-bed hospital at Kawana as a public private partnership with Queensland Health.
Construction is to begin later in 2012 and stage one is scheduled for completion in late 2016.
Further stages are planned for commissioning in 2018 and 2021.
Lend Lease will provide 50 per cent of the equity for the Exemplar consortium project.
