Hong Kong stocks have opened up 0.64 per cent, tracking gains in New York.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 124.62 points to 19,541.29 in the first few minutes of trade on Wednesday.
Chinese shares were down 0.13 per cent in early trade as worries over tight liquidity hurt sentiment, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers A and B shares, fell 3.07 points to 2,297.73.
