The Dow Jones Industrial Average was DOWN 158.2 points at 12,938.11 in New York on Friday, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index was 15.67 points LOWER at 1,402.43.
The NASDAQ Composite index is FELL 25.60 points to 2,960.31.
The Australian dollar is trading at 103.67 US cents, DOWN from 103.74 US cents at Friday's close.
The local currency is worth 88.89 Japanese yen, 78.45 euro cents, 64.09 British pence and 1.2644 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil was DOWN seven cents at $US98.80 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open LOWER, with the SPI futures index DOWN 22 points at 4,624.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Friday GAINED 23.3 points to 4,671.3 and the broader All Ordinaries index ROSE 23.9 points to 4,685.3.
The spot price of gold is $US1,655.40, DOWN from Friday's local close of $US1,662.15.
