The Dow Jones Industrial Average is DOWN 27.74 points at 13,113.34 heading into the final hour of trade in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is 5.98 points LOWER at 1,420.68.
The NASDAQ Composite index is FELL 17.28 points to 2,995.85.
The Australian dollar is trading at 103.68 US cents, DOWN from 104.09 US cents at Monday's close.
The local currency is worth 88.69 Japanese yen, 78.42 euro cents, 64.31 British pence and 1.2670 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is UP $2.01 at $US90.27 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open HIGHER, with the SPI futures index finishing 21 points higher at 4,613 on Christmas Eve.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Monday GAINED 11.6 points to 4,635.2 and the broader All Ordinaries index ADDED 10.4 points to 4,645.6.
The spot price of gold is $US1,660.10, UP from Monday's close of $US1,659.23.
