The Dow Jones Industrial Average is DOWN 51.76 points at 13139.08 in late trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is 3.49 points LOWER at 1426.66.
The NASDAQ Composite index is static points at 3012.6.
The Australian dollar is trading at 1.0372 US cents, UP 0.0014 on the Sydney close.
It's buying 87.90 Japanese yen, 0.7863 euros, 64.28 British pence and 1.2616 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is holding at $US88.24 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open higher, with the SPI futures index up 21.00 points.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index rose 11.61 points to 4635.19, and the broader All Ordinaries index rose 10.39 points to 4645.61.
The spot price of gold is $US1658.60, DOWN 0.50 dollars from $US1659.10 on the Sydney close.
