The British and French stock markets have edged higher in opening deals.
London's FTSE 100 index of top companies gained a marginal 0.08 per cent to 5,944.60 points and in Paris the CAC 40 added 0.04 per cent to 3,662.93 in early trade on Monday. Both markets are due to close early ahead of the festive break.
Frankfurt was closed.
Before the weekend, Frankfurt's DAX 30 fell 0.47 per cent on Friday to finish at 7,636.23 points.
All three markets will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday and will reopen for business on Thursday.
