The stock market in New York has ended the day HIGHER.
Preliminary figures put the Dow Jones Industrial Average UP 115.73 points at 13,351.12and the Standard & Poor's 500 index UP 16.42 points at 1,446.78.
The NASDAQ Composite index ROSE 43.93 points to 3,054.53.
The Australian dollar is trading at 105.33 US cents, VIRTUALLY UNCHANGED from 105.34 at Tuesday's close.
The local currency is worth 88.68 Japanese yen, 79.64 euro cents, 64.82 British pence and 1.2508 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is UP 73 US cents at $US87.93 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open HIGHER, with the SPI futures index UP 29 points at 4631.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Tuesday GAINED 21.8 points, or 0.48 per cent, to 4,595.2 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index ROSE 22.5 points, or 0.49 per cent, to 4,610.5 points.
The spot price of gold is $US1,671.91, DOWN from Tuesday's close of $US1,702.59.
