Hong Kong shares rose 0.18 per cent in early trade Tuesday following a rally on Wall Street that was fuelled by hopes of an agreement by US lawmakers to avert the fiscal cliff.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 40.02 points to 22,553.63 in the first few minutes.
