Media baron Rupert Murdoch has arrived in Melbourne ahead of the state memorial service for his mother Dame Elisabeth Murdoch on Tuesday.
Dame Elisabeth died at her beloved Langwarrin garden estate in Melbourne's outer southeast on December 5 surrounded by her family. She was 103.
She will be honoured at a state memorial service at St Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne's central business district.
The service is expected to be packed with representatives from the many charities and arts organisations Dame Elisabeth supported.
She was an active benefactor of many worthy institutions including Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital, the Deafness Foundation, the Victorian College of the Arts and the Australian Ballet.
AAP understands Mr Murdoch, the News Corporation chief, arrived in Melbourne on Monday.
Premier Ted Baillieu, who described Dame Elisabeth as Victoria's guardian angel during a condolence motion in parliament last week, will also attend the service.
The proceedings, which are scheduled to start at 11am (AEDT), will be broadcast on screens at Federation Square.
