The Dow Jones Industrial Average LOST 35.71 points to 13,135.01 in New York on Friday night, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index DROPPED 5.87 points to 1,413.58.
The NASDAQ Composite index closed 20.83 points LOWER at 2,971.33.
The Australian dollar is trading at 105.49 US cents, UP from 105.44 US cents at Friday's close.
The local currency is worth 89.07 Japanese yen, 80.07 euro cents, 65.26 British pence and 1.25 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil GAINED 84 cents to $US86.73 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open LOWER, with the SPI futures index DOWN 10 points at 4,571.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Friday ADDED 0.3 points to 4,583.1 and the broader All Ordinaries index GAINED 2.2 points to 4,595.1.
The spot price of gold is $US1,692.65, DOWN from Friday's close of $US1,697.15.
