The stock market in New York has ended the day HIGHER.
Preliminary figures put the Dow Jones Industrial Average UP 38.17 points at 13,023.28 in afternoon trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is UP 6.13 points at 1,416.06.
The Nasdaq Composite ROSE 20.10 points to 3,011.88.
The Australian dollar is trading at 104.35 US cents, DOWN from 104.67 at Thursday's close.
The local currency is worth 85.68 Japanese yen, 80.42 euro cents, 65.05 British pence and 1.268 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is UP $US1.25 cents at $US110.76 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open HIGHER, with the SPI futures index UP 23 points at 4512.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Thursday ROSE 30.4 points, or 0.68 per cent, to 4,477.7 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index GAINED 27.5 points, or 0.62 per cent, to 4,490.1 points.
The spot price of gold is $US1,722.56, UP from Thursday's close of $US1,719.62.
