The Dow Jones Industrial Average is DOWN 66.47 points at 12,900.90 in afternoon trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is DOWN 4.02 points at 1,402.27.
The NASDAQ Composite index is DOWN 4.97 points at 2,971.81.
The Australian dollar is trading at 104.44 US cents, DOWN from 104.80 at Tuesday's close.
The local currency is worth 85.79 Japanese yen, 80.76 euro cents, 65.19 British pence and 1.2739 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is UP nine US cents at $US87.83 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open LOWER, with the SPI futures index DOWN 18 points at 4455.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Tuesday GAINED 32.6 points, or 0.74 per cent, to 4,456.8 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index ROSE 29.9 points, or 0.67 per cent, to 4,473.4 points.
The spot price of gold is $US1,742.24, DOWN from Tuesday's close of $US1,750.04.
