The Dow Jones Industrial Average is DOWN 29.99 points at 12937.38 in late trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is 0.78 points LOWER at 1405.51.
The NASDAQ Composite index is UP 5.69 points at 2982.47.
The Australian dollar is trading at 1.0458 US cents, DOWN 0.0001 on the Sydney close.
It's buying 85.98 Japanese yen, 0.8086 euros, 65.24 British pence and 1.2734 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil last traded DOWN 0.21 dollars at $US87.04 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open lower, with the SPI futures index down 8.00 points.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index rose 32.64 points to 4456.83, and the broader All Ordinaries index rose 29.84 points to 4473.39.
