The stock market in New York has ended the day HIGHER.
Preliminary figures put the Dow Jones Industrial Average UP 48.77 points at 12,837.28 in afternoon trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is UP 3.20 points at 1,391.01.
The NASDAQ Composite index is UP 9.87 points at 2,926.55.
The Australian dollar is trading at 103.66 US cents, UP from 103.56 at Wednesday's close.
The local currency is worth 85.53 Japanese yen, 80.82 euro cents, 64.99 British pence and 1.2736 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is UP 31 US cents at $US87.06 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open HIGHER, with the SPI futures index UP 25 points at 4,406.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Wednesday SHED 16.2 points, or 0.37 per cent, at 4,369.5, while the broader All Ordinaries index LOST 16.8 points, or 0.38 per cent, at 4,390.7.
The spot price of gold is $US1,728.83, UP from Wednesday's close of $US1,724.15.
