The Dow Jones Industrial Average is DOWN 35.16 points at 12,760.80 in afternoon trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is DOWN 3.81 points at 1,383.08.
The NASDAQ Composite index is DOWN 6.76 points at 2,909.31.
The Australian dollar is trading at 103.70 US cents, DOWN from 104.14 at Tuesday's close.
The local currency is worth 84.73 Japanese yen, 80.98 euro cents, 65.15 British pence and 1.2719 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil is DOWN $US2.61 at $US96.67 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open FLAT, with the SPI futures index DOWN three points at 4395.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Tuesday GAINED 24.3 points, or 0.56 per cent, at 4,385.7, while the broader All Ordinaries index ROSE 24.9 points, or 0.57 per cent, at 4,407.5.
The spot price of gold is $US1,725.87, DOWN from Tuesday's close of $US1,733.64.
