The Dow Jones Industrial Average is UP 14.32 points at 12556.70 in late trading in New York, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index is 2.91 points HIGHER at 1356.24.
The NASDAQ Composite index is UP 9.08 points at 2846.02.
The Australian dollar is trading at 1.0325 US cents, DOWN 0.0006 on the Sydney close.
It's buying 83.94 Japanese yen, 0.8109 euros, 64.98 British pence and 1.2748 New Zealand dollars.
Benchmark crude oil last traded UP 1.18 dollars at $US86.61 per barrel.
The Australia market is set to open lower, with the SPI futures index down 3.00 points.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index fell 12.40 points to 4336.85, and the broader All Ordinaries index fell 10.47 points to 4360.14.
