Gindalbie Metals expects to complete almost 300,000 tonnes of shipments from its Karara iron ore project in Western Australia.

The company said a shipment loaded with 59,164 tonnes of iron ore departed on Wednesday, taking total shipments to 293,033 tonnes as the $2.57 billion Karara project continues to ramp up in WA's Mid-West region.

Gindalbie managing director Tim Netscher said the first five Karara shipments had been completed in three weeks.

"(It) demonstrated the ramp-up of the Karara infrastructure and logistics chain was performing well," Mr Netscher said.

Infrastructure facilities such as the rail network, storage facilities and port operations had performed well.

The company will update the market on iron ore shipments in its quarterly reports.
