Hong Kong stocks have opened 1.25 per cent lower following falls on Wall Street as investors focus on the looming battle over the US "fiscal cliff" after President Barack Obama's re-election.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell on Thursday 275.16 points to 21,824.69 in the first minutes of trade.
