OZ Minerals Ltd has formed its new executive committee using existing staff and says it is well progressed in its search for a new chief executive.
The copper and gold miner announced on May 5 that chief executive Andrew Michelmore would step down to take the helm of China Minmetals Non-ferrous Metals Co Ltd's Australian operations, ahead of its expected acquisition of most of OZ Minerals' assets.
Oz Minerals also said at the time it would cut the number of board members to six, from eight, by not replacing outgoing directors Anthony Larkin, who resigned this month, and Ronnie Beevor, who will not stand for re-election at the miner's annual general meeting in June.
The new executive committee includes chief financial officer Andrew Coles, executive general manager operations Mick Wilkes and executive general manager exploration and business development Tony Manini.
Other committee members are executive general manager projects and technical support John Nitschke and company secretary and general counsel Francesca Lee.
Chairman Barry Cusack and another director, Peter Mansell, will also resign "to refresh the board" once the Minmetals/ deal is complete.
