Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange at close on Tuesday:

AGK - AGL ENERGY LTD - up 17 cents at $15.33

DTE - DART ENERGY LTD - down 0.5 cents at 14.5 cents

A decision to ban coal seam gas mining in residential areas will add to the gas supply crisis in NSW and could cause gas and electricity prices to rise, AGL says.

AIO - ASCIANO LTD - up 10 cents at $5.35

Ports and rail operator Asciano has increased its first half profit by 74 per cent and forecast more earnings growth in the second half of the financial year.

APN - APN NEWS & MEDIA LTD - down 2.5 cents at 27.5 cents

Shares in APN News and Media have fallen by more than 13 per cent after the forced departure of the company's chief executive, chairman and three independent directors.

ARI - ARRIUM LTD - down 2.5 cents at $1.235

Steel and mining group Arrium has fallen further into the red as the high Australian dollar and weak construction markets cause a massive writedown on its assets.

CCL - COCA-COLA AMATIL LTD - up 27 cents at $13.90

Beverage company Coca-Cola Amatil's (CCA) annual profit has fallen by 22 per cent as it deals with weak consumer spending and the high Australian dollar.

CGH - CALIBRE GROUP LTD - steady at $1.50

Engineering services company Calibre has lifted its first half profit by 12.3 per cent due to continued contracts in Western Australia.

IVC - INVOCARE LTD - up 17 cents at $9.99

Funeral provider InvoCare reports a net profit increase of almost 65 per cent and is confident growth will continue.

MAH - MACMAHON HOLDING LTD - down two cents at 34 cents

LEI - LEIGHTON HOLDINGS LTD - up seven cents at $23.45

Macmahon Holdings has rejected the latest takeover offer from Indian-owned firm Sembawang Australia.

MCP - MCPHERSON'S LTD - up three cents at $2.39

Homewear and beauty products company McPherson's has delivered a first half profit increase of 7.6 per cent despite challenging trading conditions.

MEL - METGASCO LTD - down four cents at 10.5 cents

Shares in junior coal seam gas (CSG) outfit Metgasco slumped nearly 25 per cent after the company said NSW government CSG policy changes could have a major impact on its operations.

MND - MONADELPHOUS GROUP LTD - down $1.68 at $26.17

Engineering firm Monadelphous has continued to benefit from massive investments in resource projects, posting a record $79.1 million result in the first half of the 2012/13 financial year.

SHL - SONIC HEALTHCARE LTD - down $1.20 at $12.85

Sonic Healthcare has lifted its first half profit but fears its annual earnings will come in at the lower end of its previous forecasts.

SXL - SOUTHERN CROSS MEDIA GROUP LTD - up 12 cents at $1.35

Shares in Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) have risen sharply as the broadcaster says advertising markets are showing signs of improvement.

TLS - TELSTRA CORPORATION - up six cents at $4.63

TEL- TELECOM CORPORATION OF NEW ZEALAND LTD - up one cent at $1.87

New Zealand's opposition parties are concerned a deal between three major telco providers to build a new data cable from Auckland to Sydney could be anti-competitive.
