Australia's unemployment rate stayed at 5.4 per cent in January, for a second consecutive month, official figures show.
Total employment was up 10,400 to 11.549 million in the month, according to seasonally adjusted figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.
The forecast was for total employment to rise 5,000 in January with the unemployment rate at 5.5 per cent, according to the median of 15 market economists surveyed by AAP.
