The Australian dollar rose more than a quarter of a US cent US cents cent after the central bank cut the cash rate to three per cent at its December board meeting.
The currency was trading at 104.24 US cents at 1429 AEDT, just before the decision was announced, and rose to 104.55 US cents by 1431 AEDT.
It finished Monday's local session at 104.06 US cents.
